Live Music: Free Commmunity event for Iranian diaspora and friends - donations sent to Turkey
Updated: Feb 14
This Live Music event is a Free Commmunity event for Iranian Diaspora and friends in montreal to find resourcing through events that help reset & regulate the CNS. Music has always been an international language connecting worlds and journeys, bringing a soothing sense of comfort to emotions in motion. "It is linked to dopamine release and involved in regulating mood and craving behavior. Coupled with the effects of endorphins, music seems to make us feel good and connect with others." https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/how_music_bonds_us_together#:~:text=Music%20has%20also%20been%20linked,when%20we%20make%20music%20ourselves
Last month the event of the month was breathwork intro and yoga with Eliza Moore at La fitnesserie, a great gym that incorporates health at 360 degree angle run by Emmanuel Houedakor owner, personal trainer and coach. It was a successful inspiring event for those who weathered the storm and showed up. Thank you for your participation and support.
This month, in the continued effort in supporting through events that help regulate the nervous system, we will be going on a different type of meditation journey.
One that will not only soothe your heart strings, but open your minds ears to the sounds of Pooria Pournazeri magical hand and talents playing Tanbur.
Tanbur is a long necked instrument with 7 sometimes 8 strings and is of the lute family. The Kurdish tanbur and its melodies were used in spiritual gatherings for meditation and chanting ever since the 14th century.
Pooria has won awards, played internationally and has been part of many musical groups and performers that keep the rich musical Iranian heritage alive around the world. Pournazeri is an Iranian musician born in 1982. His mother was a teacher and his father makes iranian musical instruments. He was six years old when he first started learning tanbur from his father, and at the age of ten he started learning setar from Afshin Ramin. He is a producer, singer, songwriter and composer as well as a teacher of Tanbur in Montreal.
We invite you to join us on the 19th of February for a night of gathering to travel into the melodies that make our minds and hearts travel with Pooria’s expert skills playing the tanbur.
This is an event you don't want to miss.
This free event will be held at 5701 Drake st, Montreal, H4E4G5 from 6 to 8.
As always there will be an introduction to the event with a meditation beginning the session.
As per Iranian tradition tea and sweets will be available for us to enjoy as we close up the evening with a round table open conversation.
Event is open to Iranian diaspora and friends, space is limited for this quaint live acoustic evening so please get your free tickets on the Eventbrite link.
